(10 - 11 May 2012, Barcelona, Spain) The objective of this sixth edition of the GiD Convention is to bring together users and developers of the GiD pre/post processing system in order to exchange ideas and experience on the generation of data for computer simulation and the graphic visualization of numerical results. Furthermore, the 11th version GiD will be released in the frame of the GiD Convention, and the new features of the new version will be presented.

Several pre-convention courses on GiD v11 and simulation codes linked with GiD will be hold on May 10th.

From September 7th to 9th of 2011 the GiD stand has been displayed at XI International Conference on Computational Plasticity Fundamentals and Applications (COMPLAS) organized by CIMNE.

The objectives of COMPLAS XI are to address both the theoretical bases for the solution of plasticity problems and the numerical algorithms necessary for efficient and robust computer implementation. COMPLAS XI aims to act as a forum for practitioners in the field to discuss recent advances and identify future research directions.

On May 6th 8th of 2011 the GiD stand will be displayed at International Conference on Computational Modeling of Fracture and Failure of Materials and Structures (CFRAC), organized by CIMNE.

CFRAC is the international conference devoted to gather academic researchers and industrial partners involved in development and application of numerical procedures for fracture and failure simulation of materials and structures.

Designers of engineering structures must answer to ever increasing requests on performance in terms of safety, reliability, durability, low cost and low energy consumption. As new materials and new applications arise, traditional design rules and conventional testing methods become insufficient or inapplicable, which strengthens the role of computational methods in the design process. Numerical tools can accelerate the development of new products and their optimization.

On May 16th 20th of 2011 the GiD stand will be displayed at 23rd International Conference on Parallel Computational Fluid Dynamics (ParCFD) organiz.

ParCFD is the annual international conference devoted to the discussion of recent developments and applications of parallel computing in the field of CFD and related disciplines.

Since establishment of the ParCFD conference series, parallel computers have become the dominant form of large-scale computing. One day training session will be given to HIRF-SE partners, focusing on importing and CAD cleaning operations and mesh generation.

Some of the new features and corrected bugs included in this version are:

• Faster drawing of meshes and new render options
• Improvements in the new isosurface volume mesher
• Default colour for Layer0 changed from green to grey
• New plug-ins mechanism in post-process, based in dynamic libraries, to import mesh and results in several formats
• Improvements in the postprocess' results cache mechanism, to load tons of results in a simple pc
• Options to extract boundaries and separate connected components in postprocess
